Myopia Control
More children are getting short sightedness (myopia) at a younger age – partly due to a rise in sedentary indoor lifestyles and an increasing amount of time spent in near activities. The younger a child develops myopia, the further it evolves and the higher it becomes.
New studies over the last few years have been looking into slowing down the rate of myopia in young patients. High levels of myopia may lead to severe vision impairment that can no longer be corrected through standard lenses. It can even increase the risk of ocular complications later in life
At Allister and Simpson Opticians we are now able to offer the Essilor Stellest Myopia Control Lens.
- Essilor® Stellest lenses slow down myopia progression by 67% on average when worn 12 hours per day
- The eye growth of 9/10 children wearing Stellest lenses was similar or slower than non-myopic children
- Stellest Lenses are aesthetic, safe and simple
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The unique constellation of lenslets creates a volume of signal into the eye that controls the eye growth.
This signal helps to slow down the eye elongation and therefore myopia progression.
WILL MY CHILD HAVE BLURRED VISION WHILST WEARING THE LENSES?
For children, their vision is as clear as with Single Vision lenses
